Take all the time that you spend playing video games and imagine how many other kids do the same. It is important that video games do not have errors or else the player’s experience will be ruined; here is where a game tester comes in.
The gamers who have a lot of game experience, as well as motivation, can take their gaming to the next level – getting paid to play games. Just think, these people get paid to do what they would do for free, they get paid to play video games. Professional video game testing is obviously a lot better than most other jobs out there simply because you love doing it.
As a professional video game tester you will actively seek out companies that produce games and offer to test their upcoming releases for bugs, playability and other features. This type of work can pay really well but will require the video game tester to be able to communicate and write very clearly. The testers must be able to justify their thoughts regarding why a specific aspect of a game is good or bad. As a video game tester, you will be able to play unreleased games and will have to provide written feedback as instructed by the developers; returning this information within a specified time frame and confidentiality is one of the biggest concerns for video game makers.
The game testers have to be enthusiasts and professionals who will not reveal any unreleased game information. It is also worth noting that sometimes playing video games and testing video games can be two completely different things. Although you'll have fun doing the job, it won't be quite as much fun because there is actual work involved with the testing process. Testers are paid to find what programmers can't. The developers rely on the testers to identify the smaller, less noticeable bugs and glitches. In light of that fact, it is the tester’s job to play a video game as many times as it takes in order to locate and document all known bugs and game breaking glitches. Your pay as a game tester will directly relate to how good your bug finding skills are and how good you can communicate with the people you work with. So there you have it, above is a brief overview of what exactly it means to be a game tester, if you’re still interested in getting paid to play possibly unreleased games then start today, it’s the best time to start.
